Recommended in the Good Beach Guide, Breakwater Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag in recognition of its all-round quality.
Breakwater beach is a small shingle beach situated next to Brixham Harbour. It has the harbour on one side and the open sea on the other side which is seperated by a long breakwater. The breakwater it's self is an enjoyable walk and takes aroun 15-20 minutes to walk the full lenght and back.
With its calm warm waters Breakwater beach is a favourite for scuba diving, swimming and paddling. There are fish, crabs, seahorses, seagrass and other interesting underwater landscapes to be seen.
There are good facilities that include parking, disabled access and WCs, a café/restaurant, first aid room, deckchair hire as well as a choice of dive schools.
Access is good from the main road to Berry Head, and also by an easy level walk around the harbour side from the town centre. There are disabled ramps to the promenade and beach.
Dogs are allowed on the beach between October – April.
