The Mizzen is an immaculately presented, utterly romantic, picture postcard cottage, decorated and finished with a deft touch and filled with light and art. Majestic views of the harbour and Torbay can be enjoyed from the lounge and bedroom.
Tucked away in a traffic free lane just above Brixham’s outer harbour and fish market, The Mizzen is a converted sail loft that enjoys the most spectacular sea views from a full width panoramic window in the first floor lounge. The large ground floor bedroom also benefits from wonderful sea views. By the way, the word Mizzen is the nautical term for the sail behind the mainsail.

The Mizzen is laid out in an ‘upside down’ fashion with the open plan lounge / kitchen / diner and bathroom located on the upper floor in order to take full advantage of the panoramic views. The large bedroom with a king size bed and a single bed are to be found on the ground floor, which also enjoys good sea views.

The new owners have furnished and decorated this romantic cottage with a deft touch and it oozes charm and character from every corner. Nautical themed artwork and paintings, squishy sofas, woven cushions and colourful fabrics give this cottage a wonderful ‘home from home’ feel that’s a cut above the average.

As with all of our properties, quality bed linen & towels are included as well as wi-fi, and all utilities. There is also fully controllable electric heating to all areas.

Parking - This property does not come with a parking space. However, you can order a virtual parking permit online at a cost of approx. £35 per week. These permits are valid for all of the 32 Torbay council pay and display car parks in the wider Torbay area including the 4 in Brixham – very useful if you plan to travel around the area. Full details and a web link will be sent with your arrival information approx. 6 weeks before your holiday begins.
Free safe and convenient on street parking is also available in surrounding roads.

Short breaks of 2 nights or more are available all year.

NOTE: Due to the steep internal stairs, this property is not suitable for children under 5 years or guests with mobility issues. It is also situated on a hill with fairly steep steps up from the harbour area. There are, however, plentiful cheap taxies available in Brixham that can drop you at the top of the steps and save you the walk.

Damage Deposit - your card will be pre-authorised for a £100 security deposit when you pay your balance. This authorisation is released within 7 days of departure.

A very enjoyable stay with views over the harbour. The apartment was comfortable and located near the pubs, restaurants and shops. Plenty of walks from the apartment and plenty of activity in the harbour. On the last day we bought some fish to take home from the fish market adjacent to the large sheds where the fish is landed.

Have been going to brixham for many years now and stayed in some nice cottages this one did not disappoint, nice view, near to harbour and relaxing this will be on our list for future stays

Great location with an excellent view of the harbour. All the information was helpful however the recommended car park (which worked out well with the week permit) oxen cove was difficult to find, is accessible via Freshwater car park which is easy to find. However once settled we enjoyed the cottage very much. Steep steps up from the quay but no more extreme than a broken escalator. A lovely cottage all working, the small kitchen was kitted out well enough to make a chicken roast a curry etc. Nice welcoming touches, we would definitely stay again.

Located on Overgang Steps, a traffic free lane just above the outer harbour. It’s just a 3 minute walk to the many shops, cafes and restaurants in the central harbour area. There are steep steps to reach this property and it is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.
